Air® for Better Indoor Air Quality
Much
has been written about indoor air quality and pollution lately.
Are we, unknowingly, providing a breeding ground for indoor air
microorganisms in our homes, workplaces and schools?
Consider
the following facts:
- Most
people spend 60-90% of their time indoors. (ALA) American Lung
Association
- Indoor
air can be up to 70 times more polluted than outdoor air. (EPA)
Environmental Protection Agency
- Children
are more likely than adults to be affected by polluted indoor
air - they breathe faster, inhale more air per unit of body
weight, and are closer to the ground where concentrations are
higher. (Department of Consumer Affairs)
- Most
commercially purchased fiberglass filters are only 7% efficient
in stopping dirt, dust, pollen, etc....passing through it. (ASHRAE)
- A
total of 50% of all illnesses are either caused or aggravated
by polluted indoor air. (American Lung Association)
- One
out of six people who suffer from allergies are due to the direct
relationship to fungi and bacteria in air duct systems. (Total
Health & Better Health Magazines)
- The
elderly, asthmatics, and people with breathing problems, allergies,
and lung diseases are also likely to be more sensitive to pollutants.
(Department of Consumer Affairs)
HUD'S
Healthy Homes project has identified moisture and molds as a priority
to be addressed in its grant process and the American Lung Association
has stated that, "One third to one half of all structures
have damp conditions that may encourage development of pollutants
such as molds and bacteria, which can cause allergic reactions
- including asthma - and spread infectious diseases."
CDC
researchers say about 5 million U. S. children are affected by
asthma. Poor indoor air quality can cause or exacerbate illnesses
in children and adults, which in turn leads to absences from school
and work. Recent data suggests that a person's ability to perform
specific mental tasks requiring concentration, calculation or
memory is also affected. These damp conditions that are encouraging
indoor pollutants need to be changed before the quality of the
air can be improved. Indoor air is greatly improved by reducing
the bacterial count of airborne microbials, the environment necessary
for mold, mildew and bacterial growth.
An
innovative product called AWESOME AIR was developed for this purpose.
AWESOME AIR is an all-natural desiccant that helps to clean indoor
air by removing excess moisture and retarding the problems that
contribute to indoor air pollution. In addition to removing excess
moisture from airstreams, tests have shown that desiccants can
also remove contaminants. *
One
of the problems in identifying poor indoor air quality may be
the fact that excess moisture is not always obvious. Awareness
of the problem often starts after health symptoms start occurring.
Don't wait for problems to start. Install AWESOME AIR to remove
the excess moisture and other pollutants that "piggyback"
on moisture molecules and breathe healthier air.
Since
AWESOME AIR must be used in conjunction with your air conditioner,
there is a great bonus. When humidity levels are lowered, air
conditioners don't have to work as hard to cool the air, so you
can expect to save 20 to 25 percent on your cooling bill. For
an awesome indoor environment, use AWESOME AIR.
